The Lady Buffs tennis team will hit off their season this Saturday August, 9 in Great Bend. The team has six varsity players consisting of two singles and doubles teams. The varsity line up has four seniors Allyson Becker, Ann Douglas, Madison Bellows, and Alexis Powell. One junior Taryn Tabor, and one sophomore Carson Linenberger.
“Saturday’s going to be a really good tournament.” Alexis Powel senior said. “A lot of WAC schools are going so it’s going to give us a lot of good competition for the rest of the season.” Most of the WAC will be attending the Great Bend tournament on Saturday, which will give the Lady Buffs tennis team a good look at the rest of the teams they will play a few times throughout the season.
“It’s bittersweet being a senior. I’m really excited, but I’m also very sad because it’s my last season of playing.” Madison Bellows senior said. The varsity girls have six tournaments away this season including WAC, in Dodge City, on October 2. They also have the Garden City High School Invite, which is the only home tournament September 23.
“It’s really exciting being the top varsity player,” Carson Linenberger sophomore said. “Being number one is a hard spot so I’m trying to prepare myself for that.” Carson is a returning varsity player, and will be playing the one spot for varsity this weekend in Great Bend. Their next tournament will be September 12, in Goddard, kan.
