The track team took off while they competed in Wichita Kansas on April 12th and 13th. Sophomore Lane Durst places three gold medals and fifth place. He ran the 4 by 100, 300 hurdles, long jump and triple jump.

“I felt my times improved since my last races” Durst said. “To improve I am hoping to stay closer to the hurdle when I am jumping so I don’t glade and can hopefully cut some more time. I’m excited to see how I do.”

This meet was a large meet and many teams attended. It took place at the Cessna stadium. Junior Taylor Savolt got third in elite 30 hurdles with a new personal best.

“I think this meet will be even better than last meet,” Savolt said “I will be able to win the elite division for long jump, and triple jump. I also did the 800, but it was really hard to run because it was directly after the 300 hurdles. This week I go to Kansas University relays and this set is extremely hard. Potentially harder than state. I hope to compete well and stay consistent with all my marks and times. I will also be running the 800 at this meet.”

Senior Thomas Turpin placed at the last meet between 4, 5, 6A schools.“I have improved a lot over this season.” Turpin said. “Hopefully the meet will be close enough to home for people to come out. I have been working really hard for over four years to place and all of my hard work is finally paying off.”

The next meet will be hosted by Holcomb and the meet will start at 3pm.
