In an economy where more and more small-town businesses are being replaced by corporate chains, Garden City is home to Main Street. As the main business district of this community, there’s anything from gift shops, home decor, men and women’s apparel, coffeehouses and restaurants. The Corner on Main is one of several businesses that has called Main Street home. Andrea Kirchoff is a third-generation owner, with Haleigh Kells and Liz Sosa co-owning with her.

For 22 years, this store has thrived in the heart of Garden City and continues to do their best to please customers.

“We strive to stay on top of the needs and tastes of our customers and look for new opportunities to connect with potential customers,” Liz Sosa said.

There’s something for everyone.

“You’ll find everything from candles and jewelry to purses, specialty food products, soaps and lotions, Yeti tumblers, wall signs, seasonal decor, kids and baby gifts and everything in between,” Sosa said.

“It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for a gift, especially for a teenage girl,” Brooklyn Sauseda, arts and communications junior, said.

The Corner on Main is currently stocked for fall, so whether it be candles, wax burners, beanies, sweaters, hot chocolate, coffee mug, Halloween decor or cinnamon spice, they’ve got it. This is the perfect spot to find a gift for all occasions; birthdays, weddings, Christmas, or just because.

“I just went in to look for around and I ended up buying a necklace. The prices are really good.” Jaycee Stewart, health sophomore, said.

Before rushing to Walmart to buy that gift turn down Main Street, support the local businesses, and check out The Corner on Main. This shop is located at 324 N Main St and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
