Hamlet production takes a final bow

Hamlet by Shakespeare is one of the most famous and renowned plays of his generation and continues into this age with the Garden City High Schools drama departments reproduction of it. The GCHS theater definitely had there hands full with this play as it is Shakespeare’s longest at 4,042 lines. Johb Silva is one of the 14 actors involved in the production.  

Students tinker with strawberries and S.T.E.M

Students tinker with their scientific understandings in a new way outside of the classroom during the ‘Tinker Workshop.’ This workshop offered a more hands on and visual approach to teaching students about molecules, specifically biochemical molecules.

Buffs Robotics Boosting into Overdrive

It’s now been six years since the Robotics program at Garden City High School was started under the guidance of Yuriy Drubinskiy. The Chicago native and graduate of Northern Michigan with an emphasis in mathematics arrived in Garden City seven years to begin his teaching career at GCHS.

The college fair is an event where college representatives come together at the school. Juniors and Seniors can go if they please. Students go around to each booth and ask college representatives questions they have about the school.

Hernandez seeks ‘Miss Kansas’ title

Local Garden City resident, and Garden City Community College freshman, Marissa Hernandez is running for Miss Kansas. After graduating from the high school she decided to run for Miss Kansas following her sister’s’ footsteps.

Get well at Gravity

Floating in 1200 pounds of salt water in now possible in Garden City. Gravity Wellness opened in the old Golden Dragon and is providing massage therapy to the residents of Garden City.

Coach Ford all-time player

John Ford’s booming voice has been echoing through the memories of students for decades, as they remember back to pep assemblies and football games. For the past 37 years, Coach Ford has coached cross country, softball, baseball, basketball, football and wrestling, announced at football and soccer games and pep assemblies, as well as teaching a range of courses.

Girls golf takes home hardware

The Buffalo girl’s golf team earns the win in Western Athletic Conference. The Garden City Buffs have six  golfers. Alyssa McMillan was WAC player of the year, Elena Lemke placed 2nd, Grace Yi was honorable mention in WAC, Ashtyn Turrentine and Emma Kells finished just on the outside for honorable mention while only playing competitive golf for 14 months.”
