Friday night lights have finally returned in normal order. The Buffalo football team took the win over the Hays Indians with a score of thirty-five to twenty-eight. This leaves the buffaloes with a perfect record in the WAC (Western athletic conference) conference, so far. However, the Buffaloes have only won one of their four games this season.

“Last week we had a good week practice wise,” Jacob Partin, senior, said. “Practices were a lot better than they had been previously. We are working more as a team instead of individuals and pushing each other to get better. The team along with the coaches expect us to have more practices like this and to continue having a good season, not just a good week. We are on our way to getting back in track and get better every day. We have a good chance at beating Liberal if we play like we did against Hays.”

Winning like the Buffaloes are used to, has boosted student’s, coaches, and football player’s moral and has increased their confidence as they work hard to improve their season.

“Last week the team played for each other,” Ryan Jarmer, senior, said. “We believed we could win and we dug ourselves out of our rut finally. We had a really good week of practice last week, we pushed ourselves and came together as a team. I expect us to keep the hatchet, and win the WAC conference.”

For the seniors on the team each victory could be their last, they have been giving their all into every game and practice. The team has been seeing the results of their hard work.

“We were a lot more prepared for our game against Liberal,” Tye Davis, senior, said. “We were able to execute our plays and make progress. We definitely have more confidence after our first win and as a team we are expecting to win WAC.”

As the season progresses farther, the hatchet game against Dodge City starts to come to mind.

“I’m really looking forward to playing Dodge. It is really exciting to play for the hatchet and play in front of so much of our friends and family. I am also looking forward to our homecoming game against Liberal,” Davis said.
