The track team gets ready to run past their competition once again after both boys and girls teams took second in the Western Athletic Conference last year.

“Individually I would like to improve on every Mark from last year and make it to state again in 4 events with hopes of being a state champ again,” Taylor Savolt, state champion, said. “As a team I think we’re going to be pretty young so the goal is to improve from the beginning to end and build a strong chemistry through the whole team”

The team will start their season at the Ulysses invitation on March 29. Before heading to Valley Center on the April 7, Salina on the 11, Wichita-North on the 13, Butler on the 21 and Hutchinson on the 28. They will then head back home to hold their own invitational on May 2. Then they will go to Derby before they start their postseason run with the Western Athletic Conference meet on May 11.

“One of my favorite meets is the home meet because there’s a lot more people there to support us,” Ethan Fisher, trade and health junior, said.
