The tennis team gets back into the swing of things after finishing first in the Western Athletic Conference and eighth at state.
“My goal for the season is to make varsity and perform the best I can,” Jackson Dirks, trade and health senior, said.
Current seniors Daniel Darter and Will Keller lead the team last year with an eighth place finish at the State Tournament in doubles.
“But my individual goal for the season is to improve my forehand and net-game. My team goal is to make it to state and be able to play both days,” Nate Morren, trade and health junior, said.
The tennis team will start their 2019 season when they head to Maize South March 5 before going to Salina central and Hutchinson on the 9 and 11 respectively. They will then travel to McPherson on the 13 and Hayesville Campus on the 18. After that they will have their annual home tournament on the 20 before going to Topeka High on the 22. Finally they will finish their season with the Western Athletic Conference tournament on the 29.
“My favorite tournament is the Garden City tournament because my friends and family are able to watch me play and it encourages me to do my best,” Nate Morren, trade and health junior, said.
