The buffs softball team is coming back in full swing. The girls are returning determined to redeem themselves from last year. Ending their 2018 season with a 15-6 record and early exit from the state playoffs. They are working vigorously to make improvements for a successful season.
“Preseason is going really good we have some new girls there and working hard. We have a lot of ball handling and speed and agility drills we’re doing,” Yazmin Vargas, varsity player, said.
Head coach, Trina Moquett, has the girls doing offensive and defensive sprints along with hand eye coordination drills as well.
Coming into the new season, the girls are optimistic and setting many goals for the team and themselves.
“My goal for this season is to win WAC (Western Athletic Conference), win regionals and make it back to that state tournament,” Raegan Nordby, varsity player, said. “Personally, I’m looking to up my hitting average and work on that a lot this year along with keeping a tight bond with my teammates,” Nordby said.=
Despite losing a handful of seniors, the team has a few varsity returners and new incoming players as well.
“The team is looking great, we have a lot of returners from last year so we have an idea how we’re going to look,” Vargas said.
