Old Man Winter plays havoc with Buffs’ athletic schedules

BUFFS ROUNDUP: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020

BOYS BASKETBALL/BOYS & GIRLS BOWLING/WRESTLING

Old Man Winter reared his ugly head overnight Monday into Tuesday morning, dumping approximately seven inches of snow on Garden City and the surrounding area.

The inclement weather not only called off school for the day for Garden City High School, but it postponed both the Buffaloes’ boys basketball home game against Ulysses and the girls/boys bowling dual match at Dodge City.

The boys basketball game with Ulysses has been re-set for Thursday, Feb. 13, with the varsity game slated to follow junior varsity action at about 8 p.m.

The bowling matches between the Buffs’ teams and rival Dodge City have been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30, at 3 p.m. at Spare Tyme Bowl in Dodge City.

Also on the schedule for Thursday will be the Buffs’ boys wrestling team when the varsity only hosts Great Bend in a Western Athletic Conference dual in The Garden. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. The Buffs currently are ranked No. 2 in Class 6A by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association while Great Bend is ranked No. 4 in Class 5A by the KWCA.
