Whether you’re a student-athlete focusing on just one sport, or a multi-year, multi-sport competitor, the fact of just being able to return to the familiar surroundings of Garden City High School and its athletic facilities seems to be a beehive of activity these days. Thursday, June 25, marked the end of Week 2 of the summer conditioning and workouts for Buffs’ athletes as approved by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Buffs’ lineman Trey Nuzum garners top award at Blue-Grey college football combine
When he was a freshman playing varsity football for the Garden City High School Buffaloes, Trey Nuzum had a mentor for fast-tracking the learning curve of the nuances of playing both offensive and defensive line positions. That was when Demarcus Elliott was completing his senior season as a two-way lineman for a Buffaloes football team that reached the quarterfinals of Class 6A that season. Elliott was named one of the top linemen in the state of Kansas that fall.
GCHS to Implement Specific Rules for Summer Workouts
The following set of rules shall be in effect during the 2020 Summer schedule of workouts, practices, team camps, etc. for Garden City High School athletes, or anyone who will be participating in an event on the GCHS Campus:
GCHS Athletics Plan Summer Schedules
After the spring sports seasons were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak, USD 457 and Garden City High School began preparing for the re-start of summer athletic camps, clinics and scheduled workouts. All are in compliance with the Kansas State High School Activities Association, the State of Kansas Health Department and Finney County Health Department. Buffaloes will begin their summer workouts on Monday, June 15. Here is a roundup of each sport.
