LADY BUFFS GOLF: Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020
Garden City High School’s girls golf team played its second tournament of the season in just four days on Thursday, Sept. 3, placing second among seven teams at the Hugoton Invitational.
The 9-hole event was contested at the Forewinds Municipal Golf Course, with the Lady Buffs shooting a 4-player score of 208 to finish behind the Colby winning score of 193.
Sophomore Ryan Warren shot a 47 to place second individually, while senior Rian Linenberger tied for third with a 48.
Freshman Jerika Lopez had a 56 and sophomore Allie Sandoval added a 57 for the final two counting scores. Emma Ortiz had a 59.
Colby’s Anna Starbuck shot a 44 to claim individual honors. The Lady Eagles’ Mya Betz shared third with Linenberger at 48.
Next up for the Lady Buffs will be a dual match on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Mariah Hills Golf Course with rival Dodge City’s Lady Red Demons. They return to the same course on Sept. 10 for the Lady Demons’ invitational.
