Lady Buffs golfers struggle at Dodge City invite

LADY BUFFS GOLF: Friday, Sept. 11, 2020

Chilly and breezy weather greeted the Garden City Lady Buffaloes golf team on Thursday when they traveled to the Dodge City Invitational to compete at Mariah Hills Golf Course.

The day proved challenging for coach Trent Specht’s young squad as they placed fourth in the team standings with a 4-player score of 408. Hays High won the team title with a 355 total while Maize South and Salina South took second and third at 382 and 401, respectively. Dodge City, Great Bend and Liberal had scores of 416, 421 and 524 to round out the WAC team scores.

Sophomore Ryan Warren was the low scorer for the Buffs, shooting a 93 on the par-73 layout. That was good for 10th low score individually. Lexie Ridder of Maize and Taleia McCrae of Hays shared low score honors with an 84.

Rian Linenberger had a 100 for the next best score by a GCHS golfer and freshman Jerika Lopez was next at 101. Another freshman, Emma Ortiz, rounded out the counting scores with a 114. Allie Sandoval had a 118.

Next action for the Lady Buffs will be Monday, Sept. 14, at the Liberal Invitational to be played at Willow Tree Golf Course.
