The Garden City High School girls and boys basketball teams opened their 2019-20 seasons on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Guymon, Okla. Both teams came up on the short end of close scores in their opening games.

Buffs’ wrestlers open with strong effort at Best of Best; girls team impresses Prieto
It was a big and busy weekend of wrestling for the Garden City High School wrestling teams as the Lady Buffs began a new program with their first team tournament in Valley Center on Friday, Dec. 6, while the boys headed to the foothills of the Colorado Rockies to participate in the Best of the Best Duals at Pine Creek High School, just outside of Colorado Springs.
Buffs basketball teams prepare for opener, busy first week
After three full weeks of preseason practices, the Garden City High School girls and boys basketball teams will not only open their season this week on Tuesday at Guymon, Okla., but will then play three consecutive home games, Thursday through Saturday, in the annual Roundball Classic at The Garden. It will be a quick turnaround for the Buffaloes' squads, with the Guymon game slated to be on the road, and that leaves them just Wednesday to prepare for the back-to-back-to-back tripleheader of games in the Classic.
Buffs’ boys swim team dominant in win at Salina
Garden City High School swim team couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2019-20 season than what they achieved Thursday at the Salina South Invitational. The Buffs, under head coach Brian Watkins, captured first place in the team competition with 451 points, an impressive 77 points ahead of runner-up Salina South's 374. Campus was third with 353, with Salina Central (341), Great Bend (314), Hays (222) and Liberal (85) rounding out the team scores.
Buffs’ wrestlers prepped for season openers
The 10th annual Brown and White Dual concluded Tuesday night after a big evening of youth wrestling, middle school matches and duals for the varsity Brown and White. At the end of the matches, Garden City High School's boys squad is now set for the 2019-20 season-opening tournament which will be Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7 at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. The varsity Lady Buffs will travel to Valley Center on Friday for their first tourney of the season.
