The Lady Buffs tennis team traveled to the Dodge City Invitational last week, and ended up with a first place finish. Taryn Tabor took first in two singles, Alexis Powell and Madison Bellows took first in one doubles, Carson Linenberger took fourth in one singles, and Ann Douglas and Allyson Becker took home third place in two doubles. Garden City finished the day with a final score of 65.

“We have had a great year so far, this team compared to last years team is just as strong and willing to work hard.” Rod Robinson head coach said, and how excited he is to see what the rest of the season brings.

“We have four returning varsity players this season Carson, Alexis, Taryn, and Madison.” Heather Kneeland JV coach said, “We have had a great season with JV winning every tournament except taking second at our home tournament. This season both of our teams are very strong however, next year will be a struggle due to loosing most of our team.” This years WAC tournament will be very close.

“The best part about tennis is going on the trips with your friends and it’s an easy sport to become better at with practice,” Olivia Hanigan sophomore said, “We have gotten much better from last year, it should be a great season with a great team. We are excited for the rest of our season.” The Lady Buffs will be traveling to the Topeka-Washburn Rural Invitational next Tuesday.
