Lady Buffs Volleyball Goes Undefeated at Home

The Lady Buffs Volleyball team started their season with the traditional “Brown and White” scrimmage on Thursday, August 24.

“My goal for the team is to win WAC again this year and make it to state but go farther than we have in the past,” Health and Trade Academy senior, Adisyn Swan said. “I’m excited to see how the season will play out by the end of the season.”

Last week the volleyball team traveled to Newton on Tuesday, August 29. The team fell short 25-17, 25-19 against Newton. The Lady Buffs came back and finished strong with a win against Salina Central 25-21, 25-17.

“In our first matches against Newton the team played timidly; we didn’t know what to expect for our first game. Being able to always have communication and consistency at a high level will really help us succeed this year,” health and trade academy junior, Taylor Terpstra said.

The volleyball team was back in action Thursday, August 31 at home against Liberal, Colby and Great Bend. Lady Buffs defeated Liberal in their first matches 25-13, 27-17. Then they went on to play a second set against Colby, defeating the Eagles 25-14, 27-25. The evenings final match came against Great Bend, they won against the panthers 25-17, 25-16.

“We came out completely different then two days ago, maybe part of it was we didn’t have to be in the bus for three hours,” first year head coach, Trista Bailey said.

Lady Buffs improved their record from 1-1 to 4-1 at the home game this past week.

“We can always improve our passing which will help a lot in any game. I think we did a really good job communicating. It’s an important of the game and it’s what helped us get our wins on Thursday,” health and trade academy sophomore, Reagan Karlin said.

The volleyball team will be back in action traveling to Saturday, August 9.
